I saw "Aim for the Top" in high school, and to this day it is my second favorite anime OVA series behind MegaZone 23. So when I heard the Soul of Chogokin team from Bandai Japan were releasing Gunbuster, I nearly fell over with excitement. In my opinion, this is the best SOC released to date, (Voltes V fans may disagree, hey, I wasn't even born when Voltes V came out). Now for the details, Gunbuster is made out of diecast metal and ABS plastic like previous SOC releases. Of course Gunbuster is formed from combining Buster Machine 1 and Buster Machine 2, two gigantic spaceships. Once formed, Gunbuster, the mecha, stands approximately 12 inches tall. Make sure you have enough room to display this masterpiece or get a bigger room. As you can see in the picture, Gunbuster comes with many hidden weapons like his missile hands, the sinister Buster cape-like shield, and my favorite, the Buster home run bat. Guess what's my favorite sport? Last but not least, which I am so glad the geniuses at Bandai included, is the removable generator "organ" which Noriko rips out of Gunbuster's chest, still one of the most intense scenes in anime lore. Additional accessories include display base and a micro scale version of Noriko's Machine Weapon RX-7.
