The GX-05R is the reissue of the original GX-05 Soul of Chogokin Daiku Maryu Gaiking box set. Bandai gave the set a repaint choosing an improved metallic paint scheme. Also unlike the first GX-05 set, this version of Gaiking has its upper arms and thighs unpainted, so the diecast metal is still exposed. The Gaiking figure comes in three parts and can be combined and separated emulating the anime series. Gaiking comes with an optional open face head along with tougher-looking interchangeable arms, legs and horns. Daiku Maryu is Gaiking's dragon shaped spaceship. It is able to change into a defense mode and comes with accessories such as big horns, giant cutter, hawk eye, and missile drill. Its body can be opened to reveal launch pads for Gaiking part 2 and 3. A storage base is included for storing accessories.
